Hot-dip galvanizing

Hot-dip galvanizing is the most efficient form of corrosion protection. Since steel is more precious than zinc as a metal, zinc will protect steel cathodically. During the hot-dip galvanizing process where the material is immersed in a hot zinc melt of approx. 450ºC, the two metals react in such a way that an alloy is created between the metals, ensuring extremely strong adhesion between zinc and steel.

This alloy is so strong that the steel construction can be transported and handled without damaging the zinc.

Hot-dip galvanized steel is maintenance-free.

After pre-treatment in pickling baths, the steel construction is lowered into the zinc melt. Excess zinc, if any, is subsequently removed from the steel construction and the quality of the construction checked in order to achieve the best possible result.

Dansk Overflade Teknik A·S has hot-dip galvanizing systems for minor fittings as well as for large steel constructions.

Long experience is required to carry out a high-quality, hot-dip galvanizing process. DOT, therefore, has employees who have acquired the competence needed to handle the process through years of employment and supplementary training.

Every day, we walk past hot-dip
galvanized components

Who would ever think that the lamp standard or road sign has its specific zinc-grey colour in order to be able to live for the longest possible time?

Who would ever think that banisters are galvanized for corrosion protection purposes? - If a colour other than zinc grey is required, simply paint the galvanized surface (this will make the product live even longer).

Why the grey colour?
Because hot-dip galvanizing is one of the best ways of preventing corrosion, and, moreover, it is maintenance-free. Hot-dip galvanizing helps extending the life of steel stairs, gratings, banisters, sign standards, etc., contributing not only to saving resources but also to protecting the environment.
